Hello PyCon enthusiasts,
Yesterday, it looked like the tickets for PyCon Israel were sold out.
This was an operational glitch, and it was fixed -- tickets are still
available, and you can get them on https://ti.to/hamakor/pycon2024
Sorry for the scare,
Shai, for the PyCon Israel Team
PyCon Israel is happy to announce that ticket sales are now open, but
before you go there, a few words of explanation.
We have always strived to keep PyCon Israel ticket prices low, to make
it accessible to a wide audience. In all of the past years, the ticket
price was far below the conference costs per attendee (PyCon Israel is
run by volunteers, and was never intended to make a profit). But most
of the tickets ended up purchased by companies for their employees,
which meant that the conference was subsidizing these companies (with
volunteer work and sponsor money). This never seemed right to us.
We’ve tried to make cheaper tickets available by request, but that
didn’t work – nobody asked for them until the “regular” tickets were
out.
So this year, we’re trying a different way. We have tickets for
employees, at a price that reflects actual costs to the conference, and
tickets for individuals, at a more accessible price point. We hope this
is not abused, so we can keep the lower price available for individuals.
One more point – as usual, the workshops are on a separate day, at a
different place; workshop tickets are not valid for the conference
talks day, and vice versa.
Now, go grab your tickets at https://ti.to/hamakor/pycon2024 !
Hi there, PyCon Israel Followers!
A lot has happened in the last few weeks, and we want to make sure you
know.
First, the thing many of you have been waiting for -- this year's
agenda is out. You're welcome to check it out at
https://pycon.org.il/2024/pages/schedule.html#schedule
This agenda is the result of long hours of work -- by the submitters,
the reviewers, and the conference team. The agenda includes an opening
panel, 27 talks and five workshops. We believe it reflects our
commitments to excellent content and to the local community.
Following the release of the agenda, tickets should be out for sale
later this week.
Second, we have been running "side operations" -- a set of smaller
events where we reach out to contribute from our experience. You can
read about the on-site event we held at Ben Gurion University, and the
on-line event we are holding next Sunday, in our blog:
https://pycon.org.il/2024/first-pyconil-meetup.html#first-pyconil-meetuphttps://pycon.org.il/2024/pyconil-career-workshop-2.html#pyconil-career-wor…
And, oh, since we mentioned it in passing, we have a blog:

Looking forward to see you at the conference,
Shai, for the PyCon Israel Team.

Hi all,
A last, small batch of tickets is going to be released tomorrow
afternoon, around 17:00. This will include a few dozen tickets for the
conference talks day, and single tickets for some of the workshops
(made available by cancellations).
We wish we could let everyone interested get in, but alas, we can't.
As usual, the tickets will be available at
https://ti.to/hamakor/pycon2023
Hope to see many of you at Wohl Center or at the Microsoft Reactor,
The PyCon Israel team
